Sydney: Australian cricketer David Warner’s wife Candice has said that she shouldn’t be blamed for the batsman’s groin injury. David Warner sustained the injury during the second ODI against India while fielding. The injury has ruled Warner out of the limited overs series and he is a doubtful starter for the Test series also.

Candice jocularly ruled out her role in the injury, more so because Warner reunited with his family after four months. In an interview on a radio chat, Candice gave an update on her husband’s injury also. She also revealed that Warner at present is in a lot of pain.

“We only sort of reunited after four months apart, a couple of days prior… and everyone’s like, ‘What have you done to him?’” Candice said during her appearance on radio show ‘Triple M’. “I’m like, ‘It wasn’t me! It was not me’. Sorry Australia,” Candice said laughing.

Joke over, Candice said that Warner is making every effort to be fit for the first Test against India. “There’re 17 days left still for the Test. So I am hoping he will be fit by then. But it is serious, and he is in a lot of pain. Even then he will not want to miss that first test against India,” Candice informed. “He knows the importance of the series, so he will try to get fit by then,” she added.

India are currently involved in a three-game ODI series against Australia. The hosts have already won the series by winning the first two matches. It will be followed by three T20 games between the two sides. After that both Australia and India will be involved in a four-Test series.
