Cuttack, Feb 23: As many as 299 cases of malpractice were reported on the first day of the HSC examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), BSE sources said.
Other than these cases that were reported from across the state, the first day of the examination passed off peacefully, informed Dakshya Prasad Nanda, president, BSE. He said more than five lakh students are appearing for the examination in as many as 2,799 centres across the state.
The examinations which began at 9 am concluded at 11.40 am. The first session was of one hour in which students answered questions from the OMR sheets. As announced by the BSE, the students entered the examination hall at 8.30 am and received the OMR sheets and started answering the questions at 9 am. The first day of the examinations was held for MIL subject. The board had made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the examination in view of the problems encountered last year, said Nanda.
