Bhubaneswar: Prominent BJD leader, Pramod Patnaik resigned from the primary membership of the party, Tuesday.
In his resignation letter to Chief Minister and BJP president Naveen Patnaik, the disgruntled leader said that the party had promised to nominate him from the Junagarh constituency for the 2019 Assembly polls. However, since it has not happened, he has decided to quit.
Pramod, before submitting his resignation Tuesday, was also a state council member of the BJD. He also stated in his letter that the party had denied him a chance to contest in the 2014 Assembly polls also, by nominating a non-political person, captain Dibya Shankar Mishra. This time also the BJD has nominated Mishra who is not at all popular with the people in the locality.
In another development, BJD leader Kusum Tete also left the party. Tete had contested from the Sundargarh Assembly segment in 2014 and had lost to Jogesh Singh of the Congress. Singh, this time is has also been nominated from the same constituency, but on a BJD ticket. He had joined the party a few days back.
It should be stated here that in the past few weeks, a number of prominent leaders had quit the party. Among them were Gunpur MLA Trinath Gomango, Nilgiri MLA Sushant Nayek and and Nabarangpur MLA Balabhadra Majhi.
