Bhadrak: A woman delivered twin daughters on balcony of the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (BDHH) here Monday after doctors refused to treat her.
Family members of the woman belonging to Taladumujka area of Tihidi block said she was in severe labour pain when they took her to the hospital at around 9.00am in the morning. The doctor on duty however, asked them to take her to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, stating that the complicated delivery was not possible.
The family members dialed 102 for an ambulance, but it did not turn up for more than three hours. Eventually, the woman delivered the twins on the hospital verandah.
The woman’s father-in-law Dhukhiram Khilar has asked as to why she was asked to go to Cuttack when she was able to deliver the twins without any complication on the balcony of the hospital.
As news spread, irate people gathered at the spot and held the Health Department responsible such a situation.
It should be stated here that, a woman had delivered a baby on the footpath of the Capital Hospital, in Bhubaneswar Friday.
