Puri: Pahandi rituals of Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities were completed and were taken to their respective chariots of the Gundicha temple in Dhadi Pahandi for the Bahuda Yatra Sunday.
Amid the beating of gongs, cymbals, blowing of conch shells and ‘Hari Bol’ chantings, Lord Sudrashan was first brought out at 9 AM, followed by Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath Pahandi were brought out of the Nakachana gate of Gundicha temple and placed on their respective chariots.
As the rituals of the deities were performed well ahead of the schedule, the ‘Pahandi’ rituals started at 9 AM and ended at 11.20 AM.
Devotees are now waiting to see ‘Chhera Panhara’, one of the most important rituals performed during car festival, wherein Puri Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb, the first servitor of the Lord Jagannath, sweeps the chariots with a golden broom.
