Malkangiri: This is a perfect example of determination and good will making the best of an individual. He joined the department of police as a constable, then promoted to ASI and now an OAS officer.
With hard labour at his aid, this tribal youth has reached the target he set and now he is an administrative officer.
Meet Neeladri Bihari Dadhia, son of a school teacher Dhanu Dadhia of Malkangiri. His parents though not fully unable had some difficulties in bringing up four children with a single salary. Neeladri completed his primary education from Chidananda Primary School and Bibiguda English Medium School. He passed matriculation from Kalimela Government High School. Against his wish, the family’s financial condition forced him to give up higher education after completing mechanical diploma from an institution in Berhampur.
When a job became essential for him to assist his father and support the family, he appeared in an examination for constable and got a job. He was always ambitious and hardworking hence not contented with the constable job he pursued his education and got a degree from IGNOU. This helped him with a promotion to ASI.
During his stint as ASI, a barbaric incident made him stronger from within. “It was 2008 when I was posted as an SOG jawan. We were on a combing operation. Just before me, a landmine went off and in no time 17 comrades attained martyrdom,” remembered Neeladri saying that horrifying day has since been haunting him.
The incident moved him deeply and he thought he should be a police officer if he would have to weed out the anti social elements from the society. That very day he pledged to become an administrative officer so that he could do justice to the departed souls.
A believer in ‘If there is will there is way” he started his preparation for OAS accordingly. After three failures, he has achieved success.
In his reaction after the result Neeladri says, “The government is launching many schemes for the poor. I will work to ensure that the poor should have maximum advantages of these schemes. I will also love to work in getting back the innocent people joined in rebels’ group to the mainstream of the society,” a jubilant Neeladri said.
