post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 19: A programme of devotional songs, ‘Bhakti Bhajan Sandhiya’, was organised by the Sri Jagannath Bhakti Bhajan Mallar, at the Soochana Bhawan here, Sunday.
Eminent bhajan singers from the state performed in the program, which enchanted the audience comprising scores of believers in the Jagannath culture.
Singers such as Srikar Padhy, Kailash Chandra Sahoo, Santanu Nayak, Pratyasa Das, Minati Bhanj, Nimakanta Routray and many others sang popular devotional songs from films and albums. Sathiye Pouthi performed by Nimakanta Routray and Na Ja Radhika by Shantanu Nayak and other songs like Singha Dewara, Maha Bahu, Jagannath Hai enthralled the listeners.
With an intention to motivate youngsters to take interest in devotional songs and love for the God, the Mallar organisation conducts a special programme of devotional songs every month.
Ramesh Chandra Sathpathy, the founder of the organisation, said, “Every month we organise a programme of devotional songs to give an opportunity to the new bhajan singers of the state to perform in front of a huge audience. … By conducting this event regularly we try to connect the new talents with the old.”
