Dhenkanal: The Dhenkanal district administration has initiated efforts to push development in remote and fringe areas. As many as 48 remote and forested villages under tribal-dominated Kankadahada, Parjang, Hindol, Gondia and Odapada blocks will witness expeditious development.
These villages have long been languishing for lack of development. Initially, such developmental works will be launched in EkulSekul, Kota and Puttipal villages. The administration has assigned separate officials to look after development in 48 villages.
The villages which have been in focus of the administration included Ekul-Sekul, Kota, Puttipal, Phuljhar, Phuljhari under Kankadahada block, Badanadaba, Khairasahi, Jaripal under Odapada block, Belabasat under Parjang block, Gundichanali, Majhisahi, Nuasahi, Kanaka under Hindol block, Kolha and Jamunali under Gondia block.
Basic amenities are out of reach for the people living in these forested and remote villages. Lack of proper communication has been a major issue in these villages.
In most cases, people have to face tough situations when a patient needs medical services or if any village needs help of fire services.
It was decided that the delegated officials will make visits to these inaccessible villages in a phased manner and list out problems while talking to people in these villages.
The officials have been asked to review the developmental works which have been taken up in last one year in these areas. It is alleged that people in all these villages have been suffering from lack of basic facilities such as healthcare, education, safe drinking water, livelihood, housing and electricity.
The officials after taking stock of the status in all the sectors will draw up a blueprint for development. Contacted, Collector Saroj Kumar Sethi said that the process has started to carry out development in 48 fringe areas.
“An official has been assigned to look after development in each village. Officials will review development of EkulSekul and Puttipal villages soon,” he added.
