New Delhi: Cinema icons Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan were conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour, by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here Wednesday attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers. Others who were conferred the Padma Vibhushan included Dharamsthala Veerendra Heggade (social work), Prince Karim Aga Khan (trade and industry), Malur Ramaswamy Srinivasan (science and engineering) and KK Venugopal (public affairs). The President also conferred the Padma Bhushan on Assamese director Jahnu Barua. Former Lok Sabha secretary general Subash C Kashyap (public affairs), Manjul Bhargava (science and engineering) and Ambrish Mittal (medicine) were also conferred Padma Bhushan. Bibek Debroy (literature and education), Saba Anjum (sports) and Ravindra Jain (music) were among those conferred the Padma Shri. PTI
