Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: Jitendra Kumar Biswal, who claims to be country’s first quadriplegic actor, has been receiving rave reviews and positive feedbacks from personalities like Boman Irani and Suhel Seth for his yet to be released film ‘Two Desires and a Dream’. Mainstream movie actors, politicians and writers are taking to social media to congratulate Biswal on his achievement.
Wheelchair bound Biswal’s disability has not deterred him from acting and writing the screenplay of the movie that will hit the theatres in India August, 2017. A 90-minute long film, its plot revolves around a man with disability and his troubled feelings and emotions.
Recently, actor Boman Irani wished Biswal all the success for his movie on Twitter. Author Suhel Seth appreciated Biswal after watching the trailer of his movie and even shared it on his social media profiles. Politician Misa Bharti and joint director for civil aviation Usha Padhee are also among the ones who congratulated Biswal.
Biswal is very happy with the response he is receiving. “I always believe that a person with diability is the best choice to portray such role in a movie. It would be natural and not acting. So when I wrote the script, I decided that I would play the lead character,” he says.
Jitendra says when he approached the director Abinash Nanda and producer Ravindra Singh Bhatia with the proposal, they were indeed happy about it and decided to cast Biswal for
the role.
He says: “People judge persons with disabilities and consider them incapable even if it’s in their power to do it. This movie is an attempt to change the mindset of people towards differently-abled people.”
“We have sent the film to different film festivals and have received good response from the audience. I am hopeful people in India would also love the film,”
he says.
The film has been screened at Dubai International Film festival, Toronto International Film Festival and Cairo International film festival. Meanwhile, Biswal has written another script and is planning to start work on his new venture soon.
