Jeypore: Distortion of Koraput district’s political map in Oriya language by a publication house of Delhi triggered resentment among locals here Saturday.
Printed by Ajanta Trading, a Delhi-based company and followed by a large number of students as referral material, the map has contained a series of mistakes in Oriya spellings of various names of places, it was learnt.
For instance, Boipariguda has been spelled as Bolpariguda, Kotpad as Kotapada, Lamtaput as Lambataputtu, Kundura as Kundora, Narayanpatna as Narayanpattnam and Dasamantpur as Dasomontopur in the map.
This has not only disturbed the Oriya-speaking people of the district, the students are in a dilemma as to which names they should follow in their examinations.
Locals demanded immediate withdrawal of the map from the market and its replacement with a fresh publication with due correction. PNN
