Bhubaneswar: Mother’s Public School (MPS) emerged champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of the Sahodaya Inter-School Basketball Tournament, which concluded here, Thursday.
In the boys’ category, MPS defeated DAV Chandrasekharpur 64-54 in a nail-biting final to clinch the title. In the girls’ category, MPS prevailed over the same opponents 41-24.
Sritam Behera and Abhipsa Patnaik of MPS were adjudged best players in the boys’ and the girls’ categories respectively. Amlan Mohanty and Sai Snigdha Mohanty bagged the man of the final awards in the boys’ and the girls’ categories respectively. MPS principal Polly Patnaik gave away the prizes.
Trident, Jatani win
Trident and Jatani College won their respective matches in the Inter-College cricket tournament, organised by Utkal University here Thursday. In the first match, Trident crushed UGS, Sakhigopal by nine wickets. Opting to bat first UGS were skittle out for 81 in 18 overs. Deepak Hembram and Prachin Mishra picked three wickets each for Trident. In reply Trident knocked down the target in only 10 overs, losing one wicket.
In the second match, Jatani beat Sai International by six wickets. SAI notched up 113 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Jatani overhauled the total in 18.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.
