Cuttack, July 6: Haryana, Manipur, Jharkhand and Bihar scripted emphatic wins against their respective opponents in the Junior Girls’ National football championships at different venues here, Wednesday.
Haryana thrashed Madhya Pradesh 7-0 at the Police Ground. Nisha (10th, 63rd, 90th) struck a brilliant hat-trick. Ravina Yadav (83rd, 88th) scored a brace while Jyoti (45th) and Renu (69th) also found their names on the scoresheet once each.
Earlier at the same venue, Manipur crushed Maharashtra 8-0 with N Ratanbala Devi (fifth, 24th, 56th, 77th) scoring four goals including a hat-trick while Kashmina (60th, 78th) and H Daya Devi (81st, 90th) getting the other goals.
Meanwhile, Bihar Prevailed over Telangana 9-0 at the Barabati Stadium. Neha Kumari (first, 11th, 12th) and Archana Kumari (fourth, 27th, 53rd) got hat-tricks while Shyama Rani (29th), Tara Khatoon (41st) and Gunjan Kumari (67th) found the back of the net once each.
Earlier, Jharkhand eased past Gujarat 6-0 at the same venue with Puja Toppo (38th, 90th), Priya Sandil (63rd, 65th), Puja Kumari (sixth) and Asha Kumari (43rd) getting the goals.
Cricket tourney
Orissa have been placed in Group-A along with KSCA XI, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura in the KSCA Dr (Capt) Thimmappiah Memorial cricket tournament to be played in Bangalore and Mysore, July 22-August 18. Sixteen teams divided into four groups will participate in the tournament. Group A, C and D will play all their league matches in Bangalore while Group B games will be played in Mysore.
