Efforts on to provide better health care: CM

Berhampur, August 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated four buildings on the MKCG Medical College and Hospital premises during his visit to the city in Ganjam district Wednesday. He also inaugurated the help desk in the hospital.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the state government is taking several steps to provide better healthcare facility in rural as well as urban areas. The new buildings in the referral hospital will boost the healthcare system in southern Orissa region.
Patnaik first inaugurated the casualty building in the hospital built at an expenditure of Rs 3.5 crore followed by physiotherapy building worth Rs 5.8 crore, radiology building constructed with Rs 5.2 crore and library building, built at an expenditure of Rs 7.01 crore.
The nursing staff of the hospital wore black badges during his visit to protest against the alleged indifferent attitude of the government. They submitted a memorandum to Patnaik enlisting their demands.
Later, Patnaik reached the Ganjam Kala Parishad and laid foundation stone for a new building.
Among others, health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, higher education minister Pradip Kumar Panigrahi, MLAs Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, Purnachandra Sethi, Priyanshu Pradhan, Srikant Sahu and Debashish Samantray accompanied the CM.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Singh, district collector Premchandra Choudhury, Berhampur sub-collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, deputy inspector general Amitabh Thakur, superintendent of police Sarthak Sarangi, MKCG principal Dr Arun Kumar Dandapat and superintendent Dr Ashok Kumar Behera were present during inaugural function at MKCG.
Before attending the MKCG programme, the CM inaugurated a Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendra, two high school buildings and a mega blood donation camp at Shergarh.
Patnaik also inaugurated a mega blood donation programme in his constituency Hinjili, where it was targeted to collect at least 2,000 units of blood in a single day through four camps. As many as 1591 units of blood were collected during the programme till the report was filed.
He inaugurated a hostel for SC/ST students in Brundaban Vidyapitha at Hinjilikatu. Other buildings inaugurated by the CM included a well-equipped building on the Hinjilikatu tehsil office premises, an assistance centre for women, an electric sub-station, a child development project office and statistical office in the block office. He laid the foundation stone for an office of the local unit of Southco.
Patnaik gave away land pattas to 57 women, work orders to over 800 beneficiaries under Indira Awas Yojana and identity cards to 300 construction workers in different programmes.
