Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday asked the police to withdraw all charges filed against Rajeswari Kamila, who was accused of hurling eggs during a function attended by the CM in Balasore district January 31.
The police had February 5 dropped the attempt to murder charges (Section 307 of IPC) against her.
Protesting the arrest of her husband and BJP worker Dilip Kamila, the woman hurled eggs to the stage, when Patnaik was addressing the gathering. Following this, the police arrested her and filed a case.
The case was registered under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from duty), 353 (assault to deter public servant from doing duty), 294 (obscene act in public) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, sources said.
A court granted conditional bail to her Thursday. Kamila, the mother of an eight-month-old boy, has been undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after she became critically ill in jail.
