Kendrapara: At least eight rooms at Giringa village of Dumuka panchayat under Marsaghai block in Kendrapara district were reduced to ashes early Thursday morning.
According to sources, fire broke out at a house following electrical short circuit. The blaze soon engulfed other houses following which paddy, furniture and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees were completely gutted.
Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. A half burnt cattle has been rescued.
About four families have been rendered homeless.
