Athagarh: The locals of Khamara Nuagaon under Khuntuni Forest Division in Athagarh Thursday rescued an elephant calf from an agricultural land.
According to reports, the elephant calf had gone to the area with a herd of wild pachyderms. However, the calf remained at the field while other jumbos left the spot.
After spotting the elephant calf Thursday morning, the locals rescued and brought it to their village carrying it on their shoulders.
On being informed, the forest officials reached the spot and sent the animal for treatment.
