Malkangiri: An undertrial prisoner, who escaped from Malkangiri sub-jail March 5, was arrested by the police from a forest near MV-45 in this district, Sunday.
The police were on a manhunt for Ajit Dakua following an FIR by the jail superintendent under Section 224 of IPC. Ajit was engaged in cleaning a drain March 5 when he managed to escape from the jail. The matter came to fore when the jail authorities found him missing during routine checking at night.
Ajit was lodged in the jail since January, 2019 on charges of smuggling cannabis, the police said.
