Bhubaneswar: Amidst allegations that they are inclined towards the BJP, two BJD leaders – former MLA Nabin Nanda and former Rajya Sabha MP Baishnab Parida met party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat Monday evening.
“Met Honorable Chief Minister on call and appraised the current political situation of Dhenkanal and assured for reconciliation of party affairs. I am thankful to @Naveen_Odisha for a favourable discussion,” Nanda tweeted shortly after the meeting.
Nanda, who was alleged to have been siding with BJP in targeting the Chief Minister’s Office, said after the meeting, “I have never said anything about it and I have full faith on the Chief Minister.”
In response to a question, Nanda said he will contest next Assembly polls even if he doesn’t get a BJD ticket. He, however, said that he is hopeful of getting all support from BJD in future.
Speaking on party affairs, he observed that when former minister Damodar Rout was BJD’s observer for Dhenkanal district, he was not invited to party meetings at the district-level.
The party chief has taken note of it and has assured to address these issues, he added.
Likewise, Parida, who had also courted a controversy and faced backlash from within the party for targeting the CMO, met the Chief Minister Monday.
After the meeting, Parida said that he met Chief Minister to discuss the issue of setting up of an Oriya Language Commission.
