Khurda: Faulty and dysfunctional EVMs at several booths in Khurdah districts irked the voters, who had turned out in large numbers to cast their votes in the third phase of polling Tuesday in Odisha. Serpentine queues were noticed in a large number of booths where the polling process was interrupted due to the error-prone machine.
Polling started at 7am here, but resentment started brewing among the first time and old voters of Jatani, Begunia and Chilika constituencies – who arrived at the booths early in the morning, due to the nonfunctional EVMs.
The machines at Kanheipur, Sunakhela, Nachuni, Jeevan Dei Pur booths of Banapur sector under Chilika constituency reportedly stopped functioning.
Similarly, EVMs at booth No. 228 at Kudiari Nodal School, booth No. 179, 180 and 181 at Jatani Municipal Mission School, booth No.173 at Raja Bazaar, booth No-115 at Podpada and Sarua booth under Jatani constituency reportedly went nonfunctional.
Under Begunia constituency, booth No. 40 at Bogara, booth No. 34 at Kantabada, booth No. 120 at Asarala, booth No. 54 at Badaberana, booth No. 24 at Hajar and a booth at Sagadabhanga witnessed similar problems with EVMs.
According to latest reports, polling resumed at Sarua booth after the defunct EVM was replaced with a new one.
