Bhubaneswar: Expressing deep grief over the death of three labourers in a blast at a stone quarry in Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the family members of the deceased.
He also wished speedy recovery of the injured Odia labourers. The state government will bear the treatment expenses of the injured Odia labourers, he said. The labourers were killed in a major blast in a stone quarry in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, August 3.
The three labourers from the Rambha area were among 15 people killed in the blast and three others injured in the blast. The Chief Minister expressed his shock and grief over the incident and wished for speedy recovery of the injured.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh government announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of the kin of the each deceased while Ganjam district administration provided Rs 10,000 to the family members of each of the three deceased labourers and Rs 5,000 each to the family of those injured in the mishap.
The state government had sent a two-member fact-finding team, comprising the district labour welfare officer and the rural labour inspector of Ganjam district to Kurnool for an on-the-spot investigation.
The bodies of the deceased are being brought in an ambulance and are expected to reach their native places by Monday evening, official sources here said.
