Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former Member of Parliament, Frida Topno passed away here Tuesday following prolonged illness, party sources said. She was 92. Topno was a spinster. Her body was taken to her home town at Sundargarh. “Topno was a dedicated Congress worker and played a key role in strengthening Congress party across the state including Sundargarh,” Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan said in a statement. Topno had served as a member of Lok Sabha from Sundargarh in Orissa in 1991 and in 1996. She was also elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1998.
