Tirtol: Former MLA of Tirtol constituency in Jagatsinghpur district Rabindranath Bhoi passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack late Friday night.
He was 56.
Bhoi was elected to the State Legislative Assembly from Tirtol seat in Jagatsinghpur in 2009 elections. His native place is Gopinathpur village in Biridi block.
Bhoi was in the race of the upcoming bye-election for Tirtol after the seat has fallen vacant following the demise of BJD MLA Bishnu Charan Das. Bhoi had been visiting villages to maintain public relationship.
He had started his political career from 1999 when he was elected in Zilla Parishad bye-election.
Sources said that his mortal remains were taken to the party offices in Hajipur and Balia areas and then preceded to his residence. His last rites will be performed in the village crematorium.
