Malkangiri: In a gruesome incident, miscreants in the garb of BSF personnel killed Beka Mangudu, the chief of Singaniguda village under Padia police limits in this district late Friday night. According to villagers, three youths introduced themselves as BSF jawans and took the village head to one end of the village in the dead of the night.
Later, they hacked him to death with an axe. Locals managed to overpower Masa Kunjami of Rajulkonda village and Ura Wanjami of Silakota village while Veera Madkami of Tekra village under Motu police limits managed to flee. On being informed, police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
They also seized a sickle and a lathi from the crime scene. The three accused, after working with the ultras for years, had surrendered before the police a few months ago, SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said. The detained youths are being interrogated, Padia IIC Sachindra Pradhan said. PNN
