Angul: An eight-member team flying squad of the excise department in Cuttack Friday arrived at at Chandanpur Saruali under Bantala police limits in Angul district and launched a probe into the alleged death of two tribal women due to consumption of spurious alcohol.
Joined by sub-collector Basudev Satapathy, the team reached the village and held a discussion with the villagers about the death of the two women– Bimala Nayak, 48, and Buduni Naik, 40 of Koida area in Sundargarh district who were engaged in a poultry farm.
The officials also conducted raid at several liquor dens at neighbours villagers Saruali, Madhapur, Gurang and Gopalpur. However, the officials are waiting for the official post-mortem report to take further steps.
When contacted, Bantala IIC Sabyasachi Rout said the bodies were handed over to their kin.
It may be noted here that the duo women was working at the poultry farm of Arun Kumar Singh of Chandanpur. As usual, they worked in the poultry farm Tuesday. After work, everyone had a drinking session and went to sleep. However, fellow workers spotted the two lying lifeless Wednesday morning and alerted farm owner Arun Singh who rushed them to Angul district headquarters hospital (DHH). However, the doctors declared them brought dead.
