Jharsuguda: A man was killed in an explosion at Jagannath Sparkles (cracker factory) at Chhualibern under Brajarajnagar police limits in Jharsuguda district Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Sushant Dhurua (23).
Sources quoted, the explosion happened in two sheds of the factory while work was on in all the 12 sheds.
The explosion was so intense that it produced a deafening sound, pulling down the entire shed. A portion of the deceased’s leg got ripped and tossed a few yards away due to the impact.
On being informed, Brajarajnagar police station IIC Biswamitra Haripal reached at the spot and launched an investigation. Fire department personnel also reached at the spot and started rescue operation.
Locals said, “There was a similar explosion at the factory in the past.”
