Bhubaneswar: A sangeet ceremony turned into a heist scene after thieves allegedly posing as guests looted valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from a venue near the ISKCON temple under Nayapalli police station limits here, police said Sunday.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on the evening of February 5 while the sangeet ceremony was underway.
Taking advantage of the gathering, two thieves dressed in wedding attire allegedly arrived at the venue and mingled with the attendees.
While guests were busy with the celebration, the duo allegedly stole valuables worth Rs 4 lakh and fled the spot in a car.
The family later searched for the missing items but could not find them and subsequently approached the police after discovering the theft.
The duo’s escape after the theft was captured on a CCTV camera installed near the premises.
A case has been registered at Nayapalli police station, and an investigation is underway to nab the accused.
