Titilagarh: A young farmer was electrocuted when he come in contact with a live wire at Ghudar village under Titilagarh police limits in Bolangir district Monday. The victim was identified as Chitran Nag (26), son of Yuvraj Nag.
Sources said, the incident occurred while Chitran had gone to work at his field as usual and was cleaning grasses from the farm.
Meanwhile, he accidentally stepped on an electric wire that had snapped and fallen on the field from an electric pole crossing his farm.
Villagers rescued Chitran in a critical condition and rushed him to Titilagarh government hospital. However, Chitran breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Titilagarh SI Saroj Rath reached the hospital and began a probe into the incident. A case has been registered in this connection and the body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.
The incident has spread outrage in the village, as Chitran is left behind by his elderly parents, widowed wife and two minor kids. Locals sympathised with the bereaved family members and demanded necessary compensation to them.
