Chandbali: Resentment brewed among farmers as the administration allegedly delayed preparing the preliminary list of farmers affected by Bulbul in Chandbali block of Bhadark.
Meanwhile 14 days have passed since Bulbul hit the coastal pockets in the state.
As per the order of the district administration, the preliminary list of the affected farmers should have been displayed in front of the tehsil, block and RI offices so that grievances, if any, can be heard by November 22. Official sources said, the list has not been ready yet.
Surprisingly, the list of farmers affected by Titli cyclone in 2018 was submitted at the Chanbali tehsil Wednesday. But the report has a lot of discrepancies.
More than one member of a family have been shown as affected in the Titli list on the basis of one patch of land.
Besides, some affected farmers have a few decimals of land in revenue records, but their extent of lass has been shown in acres in the report.
Some unscrupulous revenue officials are involved in committing such wrongs in the list. Earlier, some farmers had alleged that the data of Title-affected farmers were being used for making the list of Bulbul-affected farmers.
Now people thronged RI and panchayat offices everyday while the list of affected farmers is yet to be out. Middlemen are allegedly active to push the names of farmers into the list of the affected.
RDC (Central) Anil Kumar Samal had visited some areas in Chandbali a few days ago. He had asked officials of various departments for expeditious steps to assess damage. He had warned that even a single farmer will not be left out of the survey.
Later, a central team visited the affected area to see the extent of devastation in two blocks.
According to the agriculture department, paddy was cultivated in 33,000 hectares in the current year in Chandbali block. A preliminary assessment report had said that paddy was affected by Bulbul in 17,509 hectares in Chandbali and NAC area.
Initially, it was reported that 50 per cent of paddy was damaged in Aradi, Sundarpur, Nandapur and Olaga panchayats while 33 to 50 per cent damage was reported from other panchayats.
Chandbali tehsildar Satyajit Rout admitted that a preliminary list of affected farmers has not been prepared. He denied the allegations about middlemen working in the system.
