Boinda: The fear of tigress ‘Sundari’ has adversely affected the functioning of schools under Athmallik forest range in Angul district.
The teachers have stopped coming to the schools here, a report said.
One such institution is the Bipradiha Project Upper Primary School.
Parents alleged that the school, which has 65 students, was not functioning for the last 15 days due to the absence of teachers.
Though the school has two teachers, they are not coming to the school due to the fear of tigress.
Headmaster Suresh Pradhan said. “The school is located near to the forest. Tigers from the nearby forest used to sneak into the villages. We have informed the Block Education Officer about the situation here,” Pradhan said.
When contacted, BEO Suresh Chandra Das said the cluster resource centre coordinator will conduct an inquiry and action would be taken as per the report.
