Puri: A major fire mishap averted at the District Collector’s office here where a fire broke out around Friday noon. Some of the employees who were busy with official work were the first to notice smoke coming out from a chamber. They alerted the other workers and all of them came out of the building thus preventing a mishap.
The fire department was informed and soon their personnel reached the spot and doused the fire. The damage caused by the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, some of the staff members of the office said that documents may have been destroyed.
Short circuit in one of the air conditioners may have led to the fire breaking out said a few people.
