Bhubaneswar: Fire-safety teams Wednesday inspected IRA Hotel and Hotel Durene here as the Odisha Fire and Emergency Services intensified checks under its special campaign, “Surakshita Odisha, Viksita Odisha”.
The inspections are part of a month-long statewide initiative launched on September 15 and scheduled to continue till October 15.
Fire officials are visiting public and commercial establishments to check compliance with prescribed safety measures and identify shortcomings that could pose risks during emergencies.
Hotels, shopping malls, hospitals, educational institutions and other high-footfall premises are among the establishments being covered under the campaign.
The inspections are being carried out on a surprise basis, officials said.
The department has warned that establishments found violating or deviating from fire-safety requirements will face notices.
Details of such violations will also be forwarded to the respective development authorities for appropriate action.
The drive aims at renewed attention to fire preparedness and compliance in buildings.
The department said the campaign is intended not merely to detect violations but also to encourage building owners and operators to address deficiencies and maintain functional fire-safety systems.
