Bhubaneswar, June 23: Krishnasis Dash of SAI International School emerged as the State Topper in the CBSE’s National Eligibility-cumEntrance Test (NEET), 2017with a total score of 680. He has bagged an All India Ranking of 28 as the results were declared, Friday. He has also qualified the highly prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) 2017 entrance. Orissa POST’s correspondent interacted with Krishnasis Dash to know what it takes to climb the greasy pole of success. Here’s an excerpt:
g You are the state topper of NEET, 2017. How are you looking at it? g I was confident that I will do well in the entrance. My confidence was further strengthened, after the answer key was out. An all-India rank of 28 means a lot to me and my parents. They are simply ecstatic.
g What inspired you to choose the medical stream? g When we used to live in Bihar, my mother fell ill. We faced a lot of difficulties in finding a good doctor for her treatment. We had to keep coming to Cuttack for her treatment. I still remember those difficult days. I was in Class 7, when I finally decided to become a doctor. It is one of the most respectable professions. Today, if you go to a village and say you are a doctor, they look at you with respect and hope.
g How did you prepare for the exams? g I knew that I want to become a doctor. Thus, I did a lot of background studies. Over the years,
I talked to students preparing for medical entrances. I learnt about the greatest bottlenecks from them. Once I got a whim of it, I devised a strategy for the preparation. From day one, I studied for four to five hours only for the entrance. Simultaneously, I also ensured that I don’t neglect my class 12 exam.
g Who has actually contributed to your success? g Definitely, it has to be my parents. They were my real inspiration. My parents were with me, inspiring me, motivating me all the time. The technical aspects were looked after by my teachers. They made me do all the revisions, worksheets and ensured that everything goes into my head in real sense. Hats off to them!
g What do you plan to do after completion of MBBS? g Iwould go for my post graduation in Neurology. I will work as a doctor. I also want to set-up a school, where students will study to gain knowlegde and not to pass exams.
