FMU professor conferred Bharatiya Bhasha Samman

Balasore: Fakir Mohan University Professor Debasish Patra, head of the department of Language and Literature, has been awarded the Bharatiya Bhasha Samman 2025 by the Bharatiya Bhasha Sammilani in Varanasi. Patra was recognised for his contributions to Odia language and literature, as well as his research on tribal studies.

The conclave, themed “Mother Tongue and Developed India,” was organised by Hindusthan Samachar at the Kashi Vidyapith Auditorium and brought together scholars and writers from across India.

The event was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. Atul Bhai Kothari, national secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, delivered the keynote address.

Distinguished guests included Banaras Hindu University Vice Chancellor Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi and Kashi Vidyapith Vice Chancellor Anand Kumar Tyagi.

FMU Vice Chancellor Santosh Kumar Tripathy congratulated Patra, calling the honour a proud moment for the university and Odia literature.
