Kaptipada: A lady forest guard was suspended Friday after the carcass of an elephant was excavated from a pit on Jamgua Hill under Kaptipada forest range in Mayurbhanj district Thursday.
DFO Sayam Mallick suspended forest guard Anita Singh for dereliction of duty. She had reportedly tried to hush-up the incident by burying the carcass without the knowledge of her higher-ups.
Forest officials visited the spot Thursday and dug out the carcass. After post-mortem, the carcass was buried again.
