Rourkela: Former minister in Odisha Government Gangadhar Pradhan passed away Thursday in a private hospital of Rourkela. He was 90.
Many Political leaders including Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram have condoled the death and expressed their grief.
“Gangadhar Pradhan has undertaken several developmental activities in Sundargarh and on his demise, the tribal-dominated sundargarh district had lost a worthy son of the soil,” Oram tweeted in his condolence message.
Pradhan is the brother-in-law of former Chief Minister and Sundargarh MP Hemanand Biswal. Biswal along with family called on Pradhan’s kins and paid their last respect to the departed leader.
Pradhan was elected to the state Legislative Assembly four times — once from Sundergarh Assembly Constituency in 1957 as ‘All India Ganatantrata’ candidate, and thrice from Talsara Assembly constituency in 1961, 1967, and 1971 as ‘Swatantra party’ candidate.
He was the Minister for Forestry, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in 1972.
