BHUBANESWAR: Members of Swapna Pati Foundation undertook a humanitarian initiative ‘’ to feed ‘Fani’ victims in Puri and Bhubaneswar Monday.
The food distribution programmes were conducted at Press Colony, Jagannath Basti, Damana Sahi, Munda Sahi in Bhubaneswar and near collector office in Puri. The items provided in a typical meal were Dalma, Rice and Katha.
After the devastating cyclone ripped through the cities a week ago, denizens had a tough time to recuperate. While power outage and lack of water were common issues, some people even struggled to get food. In such a scenario, several NGOs and good samaritans have come forward to lend a helping hand to to the distresses.
The foundation is the latest to provide a free kitchen to hungry victims. Slum dwellers were the worst affected people in the aftermath of ‘Fani’. Due to the complete decimation of their thatched houses, they are not able to cook their own food. Food distribution camps have come as a welcome relief for these cyclone victims.
The foundation is aimed at crafting a healthier future for mothers and children. Director of the foundation Swapna Pati said, “The mission is to lend a hand of help to the social and economic freedom of unprivileged women, children and to all people who are in need of assistance. With all our efforts, we are trying to make people realise the possibility of a better future by promoting child education, protection and women empowerment.
This is the first phase where the foundation is distributing food and helping people. It will provide solar light and fans to 10,000 families and will also adopt the family and will take care of their lighting and sanitation in the second phase.
The Swapna Pati Foundation is devoted towards supporting groundbreaking, non-religious and non-politically affiliated initiatives such as child protection, education and gender equality.
