Chhatrapur: Ganjam Collector V Keerthi Vasan, along with other government officials, inspected multipurpose cyclone shelters in various parts of the district to assess their preparedness.
The team visited shelters at Uppulaputi, Haripur, Gopalpur and Boxipalli and reviewed the availability of essential amenities. The Collector also checked emergency lights, stretchers, medicines and other necessary supplies.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has begun in several parts of Ganjam as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal approaches the Odisha coast.
To deal with emergencies, the district administration has activated a 24-hour emergency control room helpline at 06811-263978. Emergency control rooms have also been set up across all 23 tehsils, 22 blocks and 18 ULBs in the district.
Vasan urged people to contact their nearest BDOs or Tehsildars in case of any emergency or difficulty.
