Ganjam: For the first time, different pensioners in Ganjam NAC are going to receive this month’s pensions in their bank accounts this month.
While informing about this, NAC executive officer Prabhu Kalyan Das said the beneficiaries are for the first time receiving their pensions directly in their bank accounts. This will definitely make a difference in checking the spread of coronavirus.
There are many such beneficiaries who have not submitted their AADHAR cards and account numbers as yet. When asked what would become of them, Das said NAC staff will visit them personally and hand over the pension money to them at their door step.
Even though Ganjam district is referred as a COVID-19 hotspot district, the number of COVID-19 infected-patients is comparatively less in Ganjam NAC. And it is due to the local administration handling the situation deftly.
Ganjam NAC reported its first COVID-19 case June 4. And if the information shared by the NAC administration is to go by, the NAC’s tally stood at 54 till the mid August. Of them, only 17 are undergoing treatment. The NAC’s recovery percentage is 66 per cent.
Local residents have NAC executive officer Das, tehsildar Abani Kumar Sahu, inspector-in-charge Dillip Kumar Sahu and other COVID warriors to thank for this. “If the NAC’s tally has still been a two digit figure, it is only because of the COVID warriors,” they maintained.
