Puri, Feb 10: A German scholar has been doing research on rituals connected to Nabakalebar of the presiding deities of the Jagannath temple here and intends to submit a thesis to her Alma Mater.
Kora Gabel (30) of Kalong University has collected material on Nabakalebar from Srimandir information centre. “I reached the city January 31 and will do research on the mega ritual of the deities. I will return home after the Nabakalebar and prepare a 400-page thesis on the subject,” Gabel said.
“I will visit several places and meet people related to the mega ritual before preparing my papers,” she added.
Gabel said she had visited India thrice earlier for her paper. “I had written a paper on women in Kerala in 2008. I had also done some work on Kumbha Mela in 2012. I had consulted at least 100 scholars during the Mela. Last year, I visited Sambalpur and did a paper on Anthropology,”
Gabel added.
