Patana: A 20-year-old girl was found hanging inside her bedroom Thursday at Jhapasahi of Ankura village under this police limits in Keonjhar district, sources said. The deceased has been identified as Shakuntala, daughter of Bati Buliuli of this village. According to sources, Shakuntala went to sleep after completing her dinner Wednesday night. However, the family members found her hanging in her bedroom Thursday morning and informed police. Informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to Patana Community Health Centre (CHC) for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, police handed over the body to her family members.
Though the exact reason behind the extreme step taken by the girl has not yet been ascertained, sources said that the girl committed suicide as her parents finalised her marriage against her wish. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this regard at Patana police station and an investigation is underway in this regard, said Patana PS IIC Saroj Kumar Sethi.
