Cuttack/Kantapada: Tension ran high at Adaspur here after a girl of Udayanath College was stabbed by a fellow student in broad daylight Tuesday.
According to sources, the victim was on her way home with two of her friends when a boy of the same college, stated to be her classmate, attacked her from rear with a knife outside the college campus. The accused fled the area after committing the crime, said the sources.
As the girl screamed for help, locals and some college students rushed to the spot and took the injured to Adaspur hospital. The girl, who sustained multiple stab injuries in her waist and leg, was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where her condition is stated to be critical.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started a manhunt to nab the accused. Though the exact cause of the attack was not immediately known, police suspected the incident could be the outcome of a love affair.
