Bahanaga, Dec 29:  In a bizarre incident, the students of a girls’ college here in Balasore district Monday adorned a tipsy headmaster (HM) of a high school with garland of shoes and paraded him in the area. The headmaster had allegedly misbehaved with the college girls.
According to reports, the NSS camp of Satyanidhi Mahila College under Bishnupur panchayat in this block was underway at Bania village Sunday. Prashant Panda, the headmaster of a local high school, in an inebriated state, came to the primary school of the village where the girls were stationed. Panda allegedly abused the girls Sunday night and raised questions about the girls’ right to stay at the school. However, locals pacified the tipsy headmaster and sent him home.
An allegedly drunken Panda however, came back again to the school Monday when the training camp was on and abused the participants using filthy language. He also locked up the room where the girls were being given training. Later, the headmaster, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, broke the doors and windows of other classrooms of the school. Some of the girls, who tried to oppose him, were beaten up by him.
In the meanwhile, some other girls of the college reached the scene and overpowered Panda. They brought him to the nearby Bishnupur market. Angry students then first tied the headmaster to a pole and later took him on a march after garlanding him with shoes and brooms.
Alerted, a team of officials from Gopalpur police outpost reached the spot and rescued Panda. Later, he was arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by girls’ college’s NSS coordinator Minati Mohapatra.
