Bhubaneswar: The state government Tuesday inked pacts with four institutions to ensure delivery of quality healthcare to people.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who was present during the signing of the MoUs at the Secretariat said the move to sign MoUs with institutes of national repute is a step towards using advanced technology for healthcare.
Patnaik said for treatment of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia in the state, the government is going for a five-year deal with Christian Medical College, Vellore. This will facilitate the use of modern technology in diagnosis and treatment.
Officials said the move will help reduce major Haemoglobinopathy disorders through screening, counselling and pre-natal diagnosis with appropriate technology and therapy.
For children diagnosed with heat and eye conditions, the government is going for partnerships with Narayana Hrudayalaya and LV Prasad Eye Institute respectively to ensure timely surgeries and treatment.
With this MoU the government expects children suffering from congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease will receive surgery though Narayana Hrudayalaya.
Signing of the MoU with the LV Prasad Eye Institute will be helpful for providing specialised care to children with congenital cataract and retinopathy, the CM added.
For digital dispensaries the state has partnered with Global Health Care Systems for providing services of doctors in remote areas. “As per this MoU, 14 digital dispensaries will be set up in Nawarangpur district in the first phase. People will be provided consultation, lab services and medicines free,” an official said.
These digital dispensaries will be located at Badamasigan, Benora, Binjhilli, Majhidhanua, Kaudola, Koudola, Kosakonga, Sambarali, Badatemra, Chakalpadar, Telongadigam, Manchagram, Dhodipani, Ghodakhunta and Jhadbandhguda.
The programme will be extended to 11 locations in the district in the next phase. The government has allocated `4 crore for this project. The digital dispensary will function like an OPD and doctors will be consulted through video conference.
