Bhubaneswar: A four-member team from Odisha Saturday left for flood-hit Kerala to rescue the Odia labourers stranded at various places in the state.
Speaking to media, Labour Minister Sushant Singh Saturday said the team led by Assistant Labour Commissioner will rescue the Odia labourers stranded in Kochi and Trivandrum and make arrangements to bring them back to Odisha safely.
On the other hand, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupad Sethi said 140 persons from Odisha have been stranded at various places in the state and the Odisha Government is in contact with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) authorities to rescue them.
Earlier Friday, the Odisha Government requested Kerala to provide assistance including food and drinking water to the stranded workers, who hail from Ganjam, Puri, Cuttack and Kandhamal districts.
It may be mentioned here the distressed Odias had made an SOS call requesting the Odisha government to make arrangements for their rescue.
