Cuttack: The state government will provide free ITI education to girls if they prefer to pursue industrial training after completing matriculation, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while inaugurating the opening ceremony of Odisha Skills 2018 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here Saturday.
The Chief Minister said his government will provide all kinds of assistance to the differently-abled for improving skills.
Patnaik also announced a cash prize of `1 lakh for the gold medalist, `75,000 for silver medalists, and `50,000 for bronze medalists at the national-level skill development competition.
“Our Mission for World Skills has to be Mission-1-2-3: 1 gold, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes,” he said.
The CM congratulated all the participants and organisers of the skill competition.
“I convey my best wishes to all of you. Let ‘Odisha’s Best be World’s Next’,” he said. Patnaik hoped the event will provide students and trainees across the state a platform to showcase their talents and prove their merit on a bigger stage. It will also help attract youth towards skill development.
“I am confident that such events will lead to more opportunities for the youth at the global level,” he said. Patnaik said Odisha has been adjudged the best state in the country under DDUGKY for the second time in a row. Odisha’s ITIs are also among the best in the country, he said while congratulating those involved with the Skilled-in-Odisha mission.
