Baliapal: The administration has pulled down an unauthorised building of notorious criminal Sahabuddin Shah at IDCO Chhak in Baliapal town of Balasore district Wednesday.
The administration has reclaimed the government land after dismantling the unauthorised structure made by Sahabuddin, a wanted criminal in a murder and an attempt to murder cases.
Baliapal tehsildar Dipak Kumar Das and IIC Parsuram Sahu along with police force carried out the demolition drive.
It may be noted here that local BJP workers had staged protests May 28 and 29 in front of the police station, demanding demolition of the illegal house and action against the criminal. Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi was also present during the protests.
The administration had assured the BJP workers of taking action against Sahabuddin. Though police had been carrying out raids at different places, it has failed to arrest the accused. Notably, Sahabuddin had brutally attacked one Rajatulla of Kachuapada April 22 over past enmity.
Following a complaint, police had arrested Sahabuddin, but later released him. He is also the main accused in a minor boy’s murder at his roadside dhaba two years ago. Angry locals had set his eatery ablaze.
