Bhubaneswar: Commissioner of Police of the twin-city, Satyajit Mohanty, Tuesday honoured a haviladar posted in the PCR Van duty for his prompt response that saved a senior citizen’s life Monday. The haviladar was identified as Niranjan Nayak of PCR 1 of the Capital Police station. Nayak received a certificate of appreciation along with monetary reward from the commissioner at his office Tuesday. The havildar was also applauded on social media.
According to sources, the unknown old man was Monday found unconscious at Old Bus stand area at Ashok Nagar under Capital Police station limits. The onlookers tried to contact the 108 Ambulance but it delayed in reaching the spot. Meanwhile, Nayak along with his staff reached the spot and rescued the old man. They rushed him to the Capital Hospital and thus, saved his life.
