Cuttack, May 4: The Orissa High Court Monday directed the state government to submit its probe report within a week regarding the infamous 2013 Plus II examination question paper leak.
A bench comprising Justices PK Mohanty and Biswajit Mohanty passed the order acting on a PIL filed by Nishikanta Mishra.
In March 2013, reports regarding the question paper leak created a furore across the state. The question paper for the Physics examination of Plus II, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), was found to be leaked. CHSE had to cancel the exam while the government ordered a probe.
“We had cancelled the Physics exam after detecting the leak,” CHSE chairman Gauri Shankar Ray recalled. Over 50,000 science students had to re-appear the examination again.
A vernacular daily had published a photocopy of the leaked questions. The CHSE found it to be identical with the actual questions framed in the paper. It was suspected the questions might have been leaked at a college where the papers were stored.
The question paper issue had rocked the Assembly with opposition parties raising concern over the issue. State higher education minister Badri Naryan Patra ordered a probe into the matter to punish the guilty.
