Sonepur: Vigilance officials Thursday caught head master of Dubula UP School in Tarabha block in Subarnapur district Madhusudan Mishra red- handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000. The money was accepted by him from the school management committee (SMC) president Krushna Chandra Chhatria to pass the mid day meal (MDM) bill.
As per a pre-planned strike, Vigilance officials recovered the chemical lased currency notes given as bribe from him.
Vigilance department sources said Krishna Chandra was managing the mid day meal scheme of the school. He had an outstanding due of Rs 50, 000 towards serving the mid day meals at the school for the months of July, August and September. There was a long delay in the clearance of the bills. When he approached the headmaster, Mishra sought a bribe of Rs 20, 000 to get the bill passed. However, the deal was settled at Rs 7,000.
Krushna Chandra sought the help of the Vigilance. The raid team comprised Balangir DSP Parameshwar Kisan, Bargarh DSP Birendra Kumar Nayak, and inspectors Subash Chandra Mishra and Sadananda Pani.
